Air Tanzania Start Dar-Johannesburg Route

Dar-es-Salaam-Johannesburg flight air Tanzania

State-owned airline Air Tanzania Company Ltd (ATCL) has launched its schedule route connecting Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The direct route will start on 28th June 2019 at a promotional tariff of USD 299 for a return ticket until 15th July 2019. Thereof the standard tariff of USD 347 will apply.

The route will be served by ATCL’s recently-acquired Boeing 787- 8 Dreamliner jet, with a capacity of 262 passengers, four times per week.

ATCL public affairs spokesman Josephat Kagirwa said that the Dreamliner will be replaced by an Airbus A220-300 on the Johannesburg route from 16th July 2019.

Air Tanzania current fleet is made of four Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, one Airbus A220-300 (formerly known as Bombardier CS300), and one Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

The company currently connects Tanzania’s main airports and flies regionally to Bujumbura in Burundi, Hahaya in Comoros Islands, Entebbe in Uganda, Lusaka in Zambia, and Harare in Zimbabwe.

It is expected to add long-haul flights to India and China in the near future.
